Reducing duplicate and missing PLD fees

At the beginning of 2026, the customer was incurring substantial Duplicate and Missing PLD fees. Weekly charges averaged more than $10,000 during January and February, and reached nearly $16,000 in a single billing cycle.

Using data surfaced by Intelligent Logistics, the customer identified manifest closeout as a primary cause and implemented an automated process to close manifests at the end of every workday. The improvement was substantial and sustained.

Bringing large package surcharges under control

Large Package Surcharges represented another major opportunity. During the first quarter of 2026, these charges averaged approximately $41,000 per week and reached nearly $55,000 in a single billing cycle.

The customer used its Intelligent Logistics reporting to analyze the charges and support a focused review with UPS. Following that work, weekly charges fell sharply — and the customer has also used detailed Intelligent Logistics data to challenge questionable charges with UPS directly, with multiple disputes resulting in refunds.

Continuing the improvement

The customer is now applying the same process to Over Maximum Limits, Oversize, and Package Audit fees. These charges continue to fluctuate — but the team is actively reviewing the data, following up internally, and working with UPS to address the underlying causes.
